/ Guide / Healthcare
Hospital device continuity is decided before the failure.
Hospital device continuity is not a plan written after an outage. It is a list, agreed in advance, of the devices whose failure stops care, and a prepared replacement for each of them held where the work happens.
Healthcare environments combine enterprise IT, clinical endpoints, medical devices, building systems and physical infrastructure. Surya standardizes the operating foundation around them.
/ Surya Critical
The healthcare catalog of what is kept ready.
Surya Critical covers the specialized devices that stop production, revenue or care when they fail. Coverage is quoted separately, by device class, after the critical device audit.
- Firewalls. Quoted separately.
- Imaging capture and sensor workstations. Quoted separately.
- Nurse call gateways. Quoted separately.
- Label and wristband printers. Quoted separately.
- Badge readers. Quoted separately.
The list is not a menu of everything on the floor. A device class enters coverage after the critical device audit and only if it passes three tests: does its failure stop or materially disrupt care or site operations, can the supported setup be defined and reproduced reliably, and can trained site staff replace it through a controlled runbook without a specialist physically present.
/ How continuity works
Prepared, authorized, recorded, replenished.
For every covered device class, a replacement prepared to the approved standard is held at the site before it is needed. Obviously dead: straight to the locker. Might come back: a 30-minute restoration window, then the locker. Issuance is authorized and recorded against the serial number, the person at the site follows the runbook to reach the defined working state, the failed unit returns under custody for repair, certified erasure to NIST 800-88 where erasure applies or retirement, and the opened position is replenished so the next failure is covered.
Your organization purchases and owns the devices, including the units held for replacement. Surya provides, installs, owns and operates the on-site badge-access smart locker where the released arrangement includes one. Standardization makes recovery more predictable to operate; it is not a guaranteed repair time, and Surya does not publish a recovery-time guarantee.
/ Roles
Your IT and clinical engineering keep their roles.
Surya operates the supported technology foundation. The business, its applications, its AI workflows, access decisions and data authority stay with your organization. Hospital IT keeps the tenant, the licenses, the application portfolio and the access decisions. Clinical engineering keeps the medical equipment program.
Surya covers the technology that supports the clinical device: the workstation, printer, network connection and supported computing layer. The clinical device itself remains under the authority of the healthcare organization and its medical-equipment vendor unless separately qualified and contracted.
Surya does not replace either team and does not create obligations for them. Where a fault sits outside the supported scope, it follows the escalation path with a named owner rather than being absorbed silently.
