/ Guide / Healthcare
Hospital IT services, scoped to the technology around care.
A hospital runs two technology estates. One is clinical equipment, under the authority of the organization and its medical-equipment vendors. The other is everything that has to be working for that equipment to matter: the workstation the ultrasound plugs into, the wristband printer, the badge reader, the nurse call gateway and the network under all of it.
Surya operates the second estate as a product, and states the boundary with the first.
/ Scope
What Surya covers in a hospital.
- Imaging and sensor capture workstations.
- Label and wristband printers.
- Badge readers.
- Nurse call gateways.
- Firewalls and site network components.
- The standard workstation and peripheral estate.
Critical-device coverage applies to the specialized devices that stop production, revenue or care when they fail. Preparing and staging qualified replacements for those device classes is Surya Standby and does not require Surya Endpoint or Surya Fabric. Ongoing standardization and operation of a device class sits in the applicable Endpoint or Fabric scope where that is purchased. Device classes are qualified during Check Fit and quoted separately, by device class.
/ Boundary
We work up to the port, not past it.
Surya covers the technology that supports the clinical device: the workstation, printer, network connection and supported computing layer. The clinical device itself remains under the authority of the healthcare organization and its medical-equipment vendor unless separately qualified and contracted.
Surya does not operate clinical workflows or medical equipment functionality. Excluded unless a released profile exists: servers, arbitrary Azure workloads, medical devices, custom voice systems and specialized peripherals.
/ Continuity
The replacement exists before the failure.
The person at the site makes the first move. If the device is obviously dead - no power, damaged, will not start - they go straight to the locker and pull the working replacement. If it might come back, they call support and a 30-minute restoration window opens; if it is not working at the end of that window, the replacement comes out of the locker. Either way, the swap is recorded.
Workstations are held in an on-site badge-access smart locker. Qualified network equipment is held in an existing secure room or cage outfitted with Surya RFID and retrieved by designated staff. Larger equipment is staged on site or shipped from the Surya facility in Research Triangle Park.
/ Support and evidence
How it is run, and what the audit sees.
The Surya Agent Network takes the first response on every request and Surya engineers work three shifts, 365 days a year. Every swap, return and retirement is recorded against the serial number, with certified erasure to NIST 800-88 where erasure applies. A business associate agreement is available. SOC 2 Type II audited, report available on request under NDA.
HIPAA compliance remains an organizational responsibility. Surya provides scoped technology controls, operational practices and evidence that support your program.
