IT asset logistics is the layer under the product.
IT asset logistics is what makes a device standard real at a physical site. Buyers often call it a swap pool: equipment held ready so a failure becomes a swap instead of a procurement cycle. On this site the same thing is described in the product's own terms, because the inventory only works when the configuration, the records and the return path work with it.
Surya operates that layer as part of Surya Endpoint. Your organization purchases and owns the devices, including the units held for replacement.
/ Staging

Replacement inventory is prepared centrally to the approved standard, identified by serial number, and held against the site and profile it belongs to. Preparing equipment before it is needed is the whole point: a machine that is built after a failure arrives too late to matter to the operation.
Where a released Endpoint profile calls for physical recovery, the site receives the arrangement that profile specifies, including an on-site badge-access smart locker where one is called for: networked, every slot tracked, stocked with the site's approved replacement devices, and replenished from the hub. Surya provides, installs, owns and operates that locker hardware. The devices inside it are yours.
/ Delivery
From the hub to the site.
Prepared devices are routed to the correct location, with each handoff documented. Sites in the Triangle are served directly from the facility; sites elsewhere in North Carolina and the Southeast are served from the same hub by carrier. The opened position at a site is replenished so the next failure is covered rather than becoming an exception.
/ The return leg
Failed units come back on a known path.
- Return. The failed, retired or departed device is received under custody on a documented path.
- Repair or warranty movement. Repairable units are routed for repair or warranty handling by Surya.
- Certified retirement. Where erasure applies, drives are erased to NIST 800-88 with a certificate filed against the serial number, then the unit goes to approved disposition.
- Record closure. Each unit is closed against its serial-number record, so the inventory reflects reality.
Nothing in this leg is discretionary. Surya records every device and every handoff by serial number, which is what allows the operation to be audited later rather than reconstructed from memory.
/ Chain of custody
Custody is the record, not a claim.
Devices in Surya's custody are tracked by serial number, and every handoff, return and swap is documented. Requests, troubleshooting and changes inside the supported environment produce an operational record available for review. Access to Surya facilities is controlled and logged.
Because the assets and licensing are yours, this layer does not create a dependency you cannot unwind. Leaving is a transition rather than a rebuild, and exit treatment comes from the approved agreement.
