Surya vs building in-house IT.

The question is not whether your team is good. It is which parts of IT are worth carrying as fixed headcount, and which parts are repeatable enough to buy at a published price.

/ Dimension by dimension

Scope

Surya

Your IT Department: support, endpoint management and security, one standard setup per role, Standby readiness, and the physical device operation. Applications and strategy stay with you.

In-house IT team

Whatever your team is staffed to cover. Scope moves with hiring, workload and who is available that week.

Pricing model

Surya

$100 per person per month, with a $5,000 monthly floor covering up to 50 people. Device movements bill per event at published rates. The rates are published before you sign.

In-house IT team

Payroll, benefits, tooling and recruiting, carried as fixed cost. The cost is your own to calculate; it does not scale down when volume drops.

Staffing model

Surya

Remote delivery from the RTP hub. AI-driven support with human specialists behind it. Coverage does not depend on one person being at their desk.

In-house IT team

Staff on your payroll. Coverage depends on headcount, hours and turnover, and on-call has to be scheduled.

Physical device layer

Surya

Devices are received, staged, stored and shipped from the RTP hub, tracked by serial number at every movement. Certified erasure with NIST 800-88 certificates per device.

In-house IT team

Usually a closet of spares, a person imaging machines, and shipping arranged case by case. Erasure and disposition are handled internally or through a vendor.

Security operations

Surya

Endpoint management and security run inside your Microsoft 365 tenant: one hardened standard setup per role, access mapped per person, enforcement on the Microsoft security stack.

In-house IT team

Depends on whether the team includes a dedicated security function, and on time left after the ticket queue.

Onboarding

Surya

One working session. The session is the discovery, and a fixed deployment quote comes out of it.

In-house IT team

Hiring, ramp-up, and building the tooling and documentation as you go. Timeline follows the hiring market.

What stays your responsibility

Surya

Microsoft licensing, and hands at the site — your own staff on guided runbooks, or a partner we coordinate. Applications, data and strategy stay with your team.

In-house IT team

All of it, including recruiting, retention, tooling renewals and coverage when someone leaves.

/ The honest cases

When building in-house is the better fit

One clear case, and one thing worth stating plainly.

  • You run a deeply custom application stack — software written for your business, integrations no vendor knows, engineering decisions that need someone inside the company. That work needs dedicated internal engineers, and it is not what we sell.
  • You want the people close to the business — sitting in meetings, learning the process, building relationships across departments. Internal staff do that in a way a remote operation does not.

It is also not either/or. Surya runs alongside internal IT: the ticket queue and device operations move to us, and your team keeps applications, data and strategy. The program is built to run that way: your team stays in place and stops spending its week on password resets and laptop shipments.

Put your own numbers in.

The calculator gives you a monthly figure and an estimate of movement spend. The working session turns it into a fixed quote.
