When the vehicle cannot work
A crew returns with an ePCR tablet that will not start, a vehicle modem that cannot connect, or a station workstation that cannot receive a case. The replacement is staged at the station so the next report does not wait for a shipment.
Recovery, staged in advance
An on-site badge-access smart locker sits at the yard, depot, station or precinct. It is the fixed recovery point for the devices that ride in the vehicles.
At the station
The on-site badge-access smart locker holds the ePCR tablet, vehicle connectivity, report printer and station workstation. The crew badges in, swaps the failed computer, and returns the dead unit to the same locker.
Behind the station
The hub receives the returned device, records its serial number, and manages repair, warranty, certified erasure or retirement. Used inventory is replenished the next business day.
Job sites move; the locker doesn't.
The ambulance moves; the locker stays at the station. When the vehicle returns, the crew swaps the failed device there. If the vehicle is away, a replacement can ship to the site on the customer's carrier account, and the dead unit returns to the same locker. Field devices are swapped from the locker when the vehicle comes back, or shipped to the site on the customer's carrier account. The dead unit returns to the same locker.
What the locker holds
The first step is the locker at the yard, depot, station or precinct. Surya provides and operates the locker. The customer purchases and owns the replacement devices inside it. Surya replenishes used inventory the next business day. Every device and every handoff is tracked.

The cardiac monitor and defibrillator, the ventilator and the infusion pump are FDA-regulated medical devices. They stay the service's own vendor-managed equipment, are not staged in the locker and are not moved by Surya. Surya covers the tablet the monitor talks to and the station workstation it uploads its cases to.

Beyond the field devices
Station network kits and other infrastructure around the covered computers run under Surya Critical, through the same qualification process and chain of custody. Quoted separately.
