Top benefits from workplace modernization initiatives include greater efficiencies, increased employee engagement, and better employee retention.   Modern collaboration tools can deliver greater efficiencies by streamlining communications and processes.   Research by Zapier found that 1 in 6 employees left their jobs because they didn't have the necessary tools to do their work.  In addition, according to a recent study by Qualtrics, employees are 230% more engaged and 85% more likely to stay in a job longer than three years if they have the technology tools they need to do their job.   These benefits can have a significant impact on company performance. 

Risks of not modernizing include employee recruitment challenges, reduced competitiveness, and higher IT costs.    According to Dell, 81% of GenZ wants to work with cutting edge technology tools.  This is significant as GenZ makes up 46% of the US workforce.  In addition, 91% say that technology influences their decision-making when choosing a new job.  Postponing or opting out of modernization initiatives can impact the ability to compete with other firms that are moving forward with such initiatives.  These organizations may have stronger talent, more efficient processes, and greater business agility thanks to their modernization efforts which strengthen their competitive position.   The costs to deploy, maintain, and support legacy technology systems will continue to increase over time.  In addition to additional costs, the resiliency of these systems will decline over time.
